Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a small, little town that is a bit sleepy. The West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar of its purpose. They often believe it's an island to the to the west of Montreal, but the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities of Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is commonly referred to as her birthplace. It is true that she stayed there for a short duration. Brugel grew up in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. She initially wanted to pursue a career as an actress However, following a dramatic increase in size, her friends were no longer able to dance along with her. The Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. Once I was bigger than any male partner and stopped dancing, I quit. Former dancers often turn to acting and in the instance of Brugel,, it was a suggestion by her drama teacher. The teacher was the one who advised her to audition as Anne in the school's annual production. She auditioned and eventually got the lead in Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. For the past twenty years, the roles played by Brugel on TV and the big screen have been numerous. The character of Rita from the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most famous. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in Season 1 which was viewed only on occasion.
